Aly & Billy | The Dewberry

Combine a few times crossing paths in Charleston, one meeting at Home Team BBQ during a Carolina/Clemson game where Billy second-guessed Aly’s availability (and passed up the chance to ask her out), and two swipe rights on Bumble, this pair of Charleston locals finally got together for a few rounds at rooftop bar Stars. “He was tall and we had witty conversation,” quips Aly, commenting on her initial impression of her then first date. Less than a month later, the besotted duo were planning a couples’ ski trip to picturesque Vermont and 14 months later, Billy was kneeling, Sullivan’s Island shore in the background. Growing up in Mount Pleasant (her) and Pawley’s Island (him), the two wanted their guests who were coming from near and far to experience the ultimate Holy City experience. And it’s no secret that The Dewberry has the best views in Charleston, so it was quite obvious that the chic hotel was the way to go when the engaged chose locale. As for Aly’s biggest wish? “I just wanted good weather,” she says, “as the ceremony was in the courtyard and the cocktail hour was on the rooftop.” Seems the bride’s wish was granted as all attendees were able to partake in the alfresco activities and take in the gorgeous sunset. And being dog lovers ourselves, we couldn’t help but mention Aly’s gift to her hubs. She surprised him with a collar for a new puppy, named Roger after tennis great Roger Federer, so that Aly’s sweet Adeline (see pic three) could have a canine companion for life. Melting over here! After tearful vows, Aly’s veil blowing in the wind, the newlyweds and their guests reconvened in the hotel’s ballroom for some boogie-ing on the dance floor. And boy, oh boy, does it seem fitting that their first dance was to “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” by Stevie Wonder. An oldie, but a goodie. Congrats to these darlings on their stunning affair!
