Amy Bronston & Trevor Pittman | The Gadsden House

Take Cues from this Intimate Dreamy Blue “I Do”

Amy Bronston and Trevor Pittman’s love story reads like a romantic movie. It was during the 2019 holiday season in Washington DC, where they both live and work, that Trevor and Amy met and went on their first date to a winery. By the second date—drinks at the historic Willard bar, followed by a front row performance of The Nutcracker (a favorite holiday tradition of Amy’s), and crowned by the season’s first snow—love was in the air. “It was magical,” recalls Amy.

She knew Travis was “the one” when she arrived home from a business trip and found Travis waiting at the airport terminal with flowers. “It was a total surprise and felt like something in a movie,” Amy says.

Then came the seemingly unending pandemic times, where working from home and keeping your relationships tight knit became the norm. Amy and Trevor grew close, moved in together, and even got a puppy, Tucker.

Fast-forward to spring 2021 and peak bloom time for DC’s epic cherry blossoms. Knowing Amy’s soft spot for DC’s iconic monuments, Trevor popped the question at the Jefferson Memorial, with the Washington Monument and Tidal Basin in the background, all awash in splendid pink blooms.

For their October 28th wedding, they looked toward Charleston, a place they had visited on occasion and love. The Holy City fit the bill perfectly for its central location on the East Coast, mild fall weather, and with the added bonus of being a place with historical significance—something Amy and Trevor both really like. They called on wedding planner Francesca DiSalvo Follmer of Pure Luxe Bride to help with the design and planning, and chose The Gadsden House for the venue to host their intimate ceremony and reception with 23 guests.

The couple’s interest in history wasn’t lost in the wedding details. Amy may be a millennial, but she loves old things, she explains—heirloom silverware, elaborate tablescapes with beautiful linens, antique ginger jars, and classic blue and white china.

The blue, in fact, worked throughout the wedding, from the stationery affixed with antique stamps and the wedding crest (which adorably features now 90-pound pup Tucker) to the flowers, blue and white china vases, and the table settings and menus. In addition to her Mikado silk ball gown by Eddy K. and elegant wrap by Laverderi Bridal, Amy wore a stunning 33-carat blue spinel and diamond cocktail ring that had belonged to her paternal grandmother. And even the Italian cream wedding cake by Ashley Bakery featured a Royal Copenhagen blue fluted design.

The wedding may have been abundant with details, but the small guest list turned out to be just exactly Amy and Trevor’s speed. Only their closest family members and a couple of dear friends, who were part of the wedding party, were in attendance. “We loved that having a small wedding allowed us to truly spend time with all of our guests,” says Amy. “After being isolated for so much of 2020 and 2021, it was so nice to be together in person. It also allowed our families to get to know each other, and even become friends.” A sweet love story indeed!
