We searched high and low for a wedding to close out the New Year, and what better pick than Annie and Matt, whose ceremony ended with the officiant (the bride’s brother-in-law, or in this case, we’re safe to call him her bro-in-law) “icing” the groom with a Smirnoff to chug on bended knee before recessing down the aisle? I mean, how about that for a kickoff? The newlyweds, who hail from North Carolina (her) and Toronto (him), invited a small group of family and friends to Boone Hall Plantation for a day that was the perfect mix of fun (see above) and classic tradition. With blue and gold elements scattered here and there, the fete was awash in sublime—and often sparkling—touches. From her bejeweled royal blue heels to her white gown with its waterfall of silver crystals down the back and the cascading orchid bouquet she carried, Annie was a vision of perfectly paced style. And for any doubters who on the fence about mixing metallics, just take at her bridesmaids’ shimmering pale gold dresses and how well they pair with Annie’s look. Add a dance party that photographer Dana Cubbage called “insane” thanks to the bride’s childhood friend Josh and his Nashville band, and we have to say we’re sorry we didn’t crash this one. Happy New Year to the newly married couple, and best wishes to each and every one of you all, too.
