Jaye & John | Historic Rice Mill

Jaye and John fell for each other when both were students at the College of Charleston. Soon after they began dating, the pair headed to Savannah for a short trip and dinner at The Olde Pink House, where a big draw is resident songstress Sidra Sams, who serenades guests as they sup. Eight years later, the couple was back in the Hostess City again, this time for a whirlwind weekend that included a proposal and a celebratory meal with Sidra. For their wedding, though, Jaye and John were set on saying “I do” in Charleston, and the bride-to-be dreamt up a winter wedding dressed in all things gold. The team at Hill & Co. Creative helped bring Jaye’s vision to the Historic Rice Mill, where they mixed décor in navy and dark green with white flowers and sparkling metallic accents. Ask her if there were any funny stories from the day, and she says honestly she can’t recall bloopers of any sort. “We were just so overwhelmed with gratitude that all of our favorite people were in Charleston to celebrate with us,” she says, “so in our eyes everything was perfect.” And if that doesn’t take the cake (sorry!), this might: The cake cutting knife was a gift from her great grandmother before she’d passed, and the ribbons were tied on by Jaye’s grandmother. Charming, no? We thought so. P.S. We just had to pass along some of Jaye’s feedback on her favorite parts about the experience: “The highlight of our entire wedding was working with Dana Cubbage and her team,” says Jaye. “I cannot say enough great things about Dana. She is obviously an amazing photographer, but she goes above and beyond the photographs to make your day and wedding experience perfect.” Hear that, folks? Find you a photographer who can do both!
