Kristin & John | The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island

Morning, lovelies! Boy, do we have one for you today. But before we get into all the goodness, let’s get acquainted with the stars of the show … A meet-cute at a mutual friend’s birthday party in New York City and four years of dating led to a dreamy proposal for Big Apple couple Kristin and John. After spending a weekend on Long Island hiking, shucking oysters, and tasting wine, the two were spending a lazy Sunday morning in bed at their hotel when John popped the question. Wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of New York for an open-air wedding venue down South, the two picked the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island to host their Big Day. “Fun fact: I signed the contract from New York,” Kristin tells us. “I’d seen enough photos to know it was perfect. After I signed, we picked a date and went to visit.” The bride admits to feeling a little overwhelmed in the early stages of wedding planning, but she credits Lauren Fox from Fox Events with helping her figure out where to start. What Kristin did know she had to have: a clear-topped tent, farm tables, bright and bold florals, and a non-traditional altar (peek the photos below to see how it all turned out). The altar wasn’t the only non-traditional element, though—their wedding cake was filled with peanut butter and jelly. The months of planning all paid off during the couple’s first dance, when, Kristin says, “the lanterns lit the dance floor perfectly, and we truly felt alone for those two minutes.” Too sweet.
