Lucy & Trip | Runnymede Plantation

Thank goodness it’s Friday! And because of that, because we made it through another long week, we are going to treat you all to a wedding that is fantastically fun. Trip and Lucy’s Big Day at Runnymede Plantation, featured in our spring issue, is just the one to fit the bill. The couple, who live in New York and got engaged when Trip knelt down on their apartment balcony in Brooklyn, brought Big Apple style down to Charleston for their April nuptials and didn’t just plan a knockout wedding day, but a knockout wedding weekend. Dinners at some of the Holy City’s top restaurants, nightcaps at posh bars, and a rehearsal complete with reggae music, coconut cakes, and late-night antics.  “We had a blast (and stayed up way too late),” says Lucy of the festivities. Looks like Lucy still managed to get a few hours of beauty sleep as she made for one of most beautiful and stylish brides we have ever seen in her chic, strapless Carolina Herrara gown and snazzy Jimmy Choos. The duo, who selected Runnymede for its spacious grounds and because Lucy’s parents lived in Charleston, exchanged vows during a ceremony that included not one but two officiants, Trip’s aunt and uncle. “They’re very soulful people, with an amazing marriage, and they’re an inspiration to us as a model of meeting life’s challenges as a united front,” Lucy answers as to why the couple chose both Robert and Laura. From there, wedding-goers galavanted over to the cocktail hour and then on to the reception, with a second line leading the charge. And we mentioned how gorgeous Lucy looked, and we think the same of Trip, but there is a moment we can’t help but mention in regards to his wardrobe. During the couple’s first dance, Trip performed a high kick of sorts only to whisper in his new bride’s ear that he had ripped his pants. All is well that end’s well as the mother of the bride, always prepared, had Trip wear her scarf as a skirt while he pants were mended. Scroll down for proof and to see more from this laid-back but oh-so stylish affair.
