When Peter started classes at the Charleston School of Law in 2012, he moved into the same apartment building as Melanie. Soon after, he knocked on her door and asked her on a date. Three years later, when they were driving to a wedding in the Upstate, Peter took a winding detour to “Pretty Place,” an outdoor chapel with a mountain view in Cleveland, South Carolina. With a friend hiding out, ready to capture the moment on camera, Peter got down on one knee. The two married at Saint John Catholic Church in North Charleston and celebrated with a reception at Patriots Point. They now reside in Iowa.
