Natalie & Matthew | The Gadsden House

Pittsburgh residents Natalie and Matthew met the old-school way—sans dating apps. They instead met in person, a rarity these days. While playing darts at a local watering hole, Matt’s friend was heckling Natalie’s friend and Matt, being gallant, stepped in to put a stop to the banter. “I immediately knew I liked this guy and since both our phones were dead, I wrote my number down on a napkin,” gushes Natalie. After a little stalking on LinkedIn (Matt had no idea you could see who looked at your profile), Matt called Natalie and asked her out for a proper date. Their relationship took off and after five years of dating and a move to Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Matt got down on own knee in their own backyard, ring in his hand and Moscow Mule in her hand. The bride has always been a fan of sunshine-y yellow so sunflowers ruled the day in both the florals and in décor. And as Nat tells us, “Sunflowers symbolize adoration, loyalty and longevity, which is everything I hope for in our marriage.” You learn something new everyday! After their red golden retriever, Levi, walked down the aisle as ring bearer, Natalie soon followed and a miracle happened. Matt mouthed “Wow” and started tearing up, an emotion Natalie had never seen out of him. Fast-forward through the vows and the party amped up at The Gadsden House and guys danced the night away and munched on delectable cupcakes from our very own Sugar Bakeshop. Towards the end of the night, Natalie and fam released balloons into the air to honor her late sister, Katelynn … except one balloon made a roundabout way into the air, first flying into the second-story piazza. “We like to think that was Katelynn’s way of telling us she was there with us on our special day.” No doubt about it, newlyweds. You for sure have an angel watching over you.
