Natalie & Steven | Historic Rice Mill

We love it when we find couples and weddings with particulars you just don’t see every day. Enter Natalie and Steven. Our precious couple met each other … wait for it … in jail … as Correctional Police Officers (lesson for the rest of us: never discount any place for meeting the love of your life). A year and a half later, Steven proposed on the edge of a cliff at Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland (we’ve already googled it for you because you simply must see). Though they’re both from New Jersey, Natalie and Steven knew they wanted a southern destination wedding. One step into the Historic Rice Mill and it was instant love. Think that sounds par for the course? Well, Natalie and Steven chose not the weekend, but a Tuesday—what would have been Natalie’s grandparent’s 69th anniversary—to say their vows. Those grandparents’ photos were also charms hanging about from Natalie’s bouquet. Sure, other aspects were what you’d expect for a Charleston wedding like Lowcountry fare (plenty of sweet tea and fried green tomatoes), but our couple’s remarkable bond and love of family stands out in their photos by Dana Cubbage. At one special point in the evening, Steven needed to find Natalie and asked if anybody had seen his “fian…” and thought to himself, “No, my wife.” He smiled when a family friend reminded him, “For the rest of your life.” We’re sure it will continue to be extraordinary journey.
