For military couple Blake  and Nicole Turner, being at the ready is a way of life. So when kismet (and coordinating schedules) gave the besot couple a shot to marry in 2011, they took it­—just the two of them, their photographer, and a best-friend witness. They pledged their vows, then pledged to host a renewal ceremony with out-of-town loved ones at a later date. “I know there were doubters, but it was too important not to happen,” says Nicole. Fast forward four years, and Rebecca Rose Events used greenery and succulents to lend a verdant vibe to an easygoing brunch affair at the Creek Club at I’On, where guests nibbled on a whimsical array of freshly frosted delicacies. Blake, for his part, only had eyes for his beloved. “There are no superlatives that properly convey how beautiful Nicole was,” he says. “I’ve never seen anyone more beautiful before or since.” 

TOP TIPS
Take It from the Turners ...

• Opt for functional favors. The Turners commissioned “still sleeping” door signs for guests’ hotel rooms.
• Book your venue for a Sunday, like the Turners did. It cuts costs, and there are usually more available options.
• Make the most of your talents. Nicole, who used to work in the beauty industry, dolled up her bridesmaids and herself for the Big Day.
• Create a menu that works for your guests. The bride has gluten allergies, as did some of the guests, so there were options for all.
