Though Mount Pleasant native Logan and Mark, of Greenville, were acquaintances throughout college, it took a spontaneous road trip two years after graduation for the pair to really get to know one another. Logan, who was living in Charlottesville, Virginia at the time, hitched a ride down to South Carolina with Mark, who happened to be driving through the city and headed that way for Thanksgiving. After seven hours of cruising together, the two had clicked, and, as Logan puts simply, “We started dating after that!”

The couple dated long distance—she in Charlottesville and he in Greenville—for a few months, until Logan joined Mark in Greenville to attend graduate school. While on a trip to Logan’s hometown in March 2011, the pair made their way to the lighthouse on Sullivan’s Island, where Mark, (who knew how much a Lowcountry proposal would mean to both Logan and her family) proposed.

Seven months later, the Greenville residents wed at the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church, then made their way 20 minutes up the road for a riverside reception at RiverOaks in Awendaw. Of the evening’s atmosphere Logan says, “We wanted it to feel elegant, but also relaxed and natural.” A vibe the planning team at RiverOaks more than delivered. Wooden and mossy accents mingled with silver candelabras and strands of bulb lights, giving the backyard venue an enchanted forest feel. “My favorite part of the décor was the venue itself!” says Logan, and simple arrangements, white and brown rentals, and candlelight played up the scene’s natural charm. The bride’s fondest memory of the night? Logan says, “I will mostly remember just feeling so, so happy and excited to finally be married to Mark.”
