Classic Beauty | The look du jour? A timeless one. Pair a fresh face with wind-swept hair and a romantic gown for a swoon-worthy statement for the ages
If you want to see the vestiges of a New World version of a grand British estate, head to Middleton Place. Built in 1755, it’s gardens represent the oldest preserved landscaping in the country. With its 65 acres of sculpted grounds, sweeping views of the Ashley River, and flocks of sheep, the site is a breath-taker for any visitor. Weddings here take on a majesty that can be mind-blowing either in their extravagance (see this wedding, and this one, too) or in their earthy elegance (see this Big Day). No matter the fete, here are some of the most striking gowns we’ve seen of late, photographed throughout the property.
