William Korn & Charlotte Swain

The Swain sisters (there are five of them) usually swap “I dos” at the family’s Upstate vineyard, but Charlotte Swain and William “Willy” Korn, broke the mold. “I always imagined that I would do the same,” Charlotte says, “but we wanted to get married in Charleston because it’s where we fell in love.” Even so, the apple didn’t fall too far from the family tree: her aunt and uncle’s spot on the Wando River fit the bill for the laid-back affair they desired. “We wanted a place where people could enjoy great music, craft beverages, and classic Lowcountry cuisine,” Charlotte explains. Keeping it on private property was a wise move, since, as planner Ashley Russell of Ashley Nicole Events explains, “You can pretty much do anything you can dream of!” For this couple, that meant including a pair of restored harvester food trucks, a gourmet s’mores pit, and enough bistro lights to turn the backyard into a party palace. Before guests left for the evening, they snagged favor-size bottles of the Swain family wine, perfect for toasting new traditions.
