Though Summerville native Kristiana and Virginia-born Justin both worked at MUSC they never crossed paths until Charleston wedding photographer Marni Rothschild Durlach came into the picture. The couple both attended the wedding of friends and as Marni snapped shots of the then-bride and groom, she made sure the Kristiana and Justin had a chance to hit it off. A couple of years later, Marni put down her camera, took up a bridesmaid’s bouquet and headed down the aisle at St. Johannes Lutheran Church, to witness Kristiana and Justin exchange vows.

After the ceremony the serendipitous couple joined guest at Alhambra Hall, which Heather Barrie of gathering—floral + event design had transformed into a “cozy space that looked great in daylight and absolutely glowed at night,” she says. Using a color palette of bright pinks, reds, and oranges, Heather festooned the room with flowers, paper lanterns, and panels of fabric. “It looked like something out of a magazine,” says Kristiana, “we were blown away.”
