Caroline Jones & Shane Leland

Summerville
“The point of having an at-home wedding—for us—was to take some of the drama and stress out of the whole event,” says Caroline Leland, who spent eight months alongside her parents and then-fiancé, Shane, prepping the Summerville garden she grew up in for their nuptials. But you know that adage about how to make God laugh? (Make plans.) The follies started when an ice storm made a wreck of things; and then the day before the wedding plumbing problems had techs asking to dig up the “newly landscaped and fluffed yard,” says Caroline. Luckily she and her mom, who make up the interior design group Laura Jones & Company, are seasoned fixers. They collected fallen branches, added twinkling white lights and greenery, and voila! Instant décor. As for the pipes? They encouraged a temporary workaround to make it through the reception. From there, friends, family, and a few hired hand pros got back to decorating the tent. Antique window frames, mirrors, wreaths, and draperies went up, and by the times vows were traded, there wasn’t a bit of drama on deck.
