Great Escape

This new-to-Charleston towering canvas teepee can take on myriad personalities to host anything from a shower to a rehearsal dinner but, in this case, Ooh! Events and Tusk Events’ Katie Poole and Rebecca Erickson partnered to fashion a boho retreat. “We wanted to create the feeling of a relaxed lounge and set the mood with an abundance of candles,” says Katie. For a double-whammy statement, they topped a platform loaded with patterned pillows and flickering votives with an enormous floral “chandelier.” The loose, flowing piece became the tent’s focal point, says Rebecca, and brought the teepee’s height down to more intimate and human scale.

At a Glance...
Décor: Tusk Events and Ooh! Events created four gathering spots within this single lounge: a pillow-strewn platform, a pair of rattan chairs, and two settees.
Flowers: Out of the Garden affixed blooms to a driftwood frame for a floral chandelier. Floral foam can extend bloom life, as does spritzing.
Tent: Sperry Tents Southeast’s teepee is an all-season shelter that gets toasty warm in the winter with just a few candles. During warm-weather, opt for nighttime parties when things cool or add fans to circulate air.
Cocktails: Known for its craft cocktails, ICEBOX offered a mix of fresh fruit purées to mix with sparkling wines. A favorite? The blackberry and rosemary champagne sparkler.
