The Governor Thomas Bennett House

Prepare to fall hard and fast for not only the gorgeous details from Sally Bonsall and Paul Hughes’ Charleston wedding, but also for their precious love story. The bride and groom met in Baltimore when they were 12 years old, but didn’t reconnect until seven years ago in New York City, where they began their romance.

After Paul proposed, the Holy City seemed the perfect location for their intimate destination affair, since Sally’s family splits time between New England and Charleston. On a beautiful September day, Sally and Paul said “I do” on the lawn of the Governor Thomas Bennett House surrounded by family, friends, and the mansion’s lush garden itself. To honor the site’s beauty, they erected a clear top tent to best showcase the overhanging oaks and facade of home, and set up dining tables there dressed arrangements made from blushing blooms and greenery—some even clipped from the estate. Salthouse Catering served a delicious family-style meal in antique crystal serving dishes and on silver platters while Squeeze OnSite crafted cocktails aptly named “High School Crush” to honor the couple’s beginnings. Yep, we’re in love with this one for sure.
