In the Stars

Alexis Goodson and Andrew Rowley Jr.’s story was nearly one of missed connections. While attending MUSC (Alexis for dental school, Andrew for medical school), the two often caught each other’s eye from across the library. When finals ended and the library closed for reconstruction the following semester, they both lamented never having said hello. But another chance to meet may have been written in the stars—or at least was made possible by Stars Restaurant on King Street, where their paths soon crossed again.

This time, Andrew wasn’t going to let the opportunity pass him by, and he introduced himself to the “cute girl with a lot of highlighters” from the library. The two felt an immediate spark and were quickly inseparable. Two years later, while taking a Sunday stroll in the I’On neighborhood of Mount Pleasant, Andrew proposed to Alexis beneath gently swaying Spanish moss.

With Charleston being the place that brought them together, Alexis and Andrew set their sights on the Lowcountry for their September wedding. “It just felt like us,” she says. As they explored venues, it was only fitting that they fell for one not far from the site of their engagement: the Creek Club at I’On.

The breezy, waterfront destination proved the perfect setting for their coastal-inspired bash. The couple said, “we do,” in a sun-dappled ceremony on the marsh, surrounded by their closest friends and family. Resplendent blooms—Alexis’s favorite part of any wedding—ruled the day, with bursting arrangements of roses, dahlias, and delphinium in pink and blue hues framing the ceremony, climbing the stairs, and topping reception tables.
