Wedding inspiration can come from unexpected places. For Becca Cobb and Joshua Jones, it came from a chinoiserie-inspired wallpaper and set of plates at Becca’s grandmother’s house. The charming, delicate patterns and colors were just the right tone for an elegant Southern garden party that was rooted in tradition, but far from stuffy.
 
The couple met through friends at Charleston School of Law. Their relationship stayed in the friend zone until the time was right and Joshua asked her out. “Our first date was the best I’ve ever been on,” Becca says. The couple went to Trattoria Lucca and talked for nearly four hours. It was clear that they were meant to be, and after a dreamy courtship, Josh proposed after a romantic scavenger hunt that culminated in an engagement party with family and friends.
 
There was no question that the wedding would be held at the William Aiken House, where, during her first week at law school, Becca had gotten a peek at a wedding set-up. “It was love at first sight,” she says. The striking yellow exterior reminded her of an Italian estate. 
 
The couple worked with Chelsye Harp at Intrigue Designs to execute their vision. “I wanted the wedding to feel romantic and lush, without feeling too over planned or ‘matchy-matchy,’” Becca says. 
 
From the whimsically illustrated Ellen Davis stationery to the delicate pressed flowers on the cake, the wedding was bursting with blossoms. “I wanted the florals to do most of the talking, and I wanted them everywhere,” Becca says. Wedgwood blues, citrus yellows, and lime greens in cascading bouquets and lavish arrangements—the flowers themselves were a celebration. “The florals were a huge hit!” Becca says. “Whitney at Festoon really blew me away. I remember watching the florist set up while I was getting ready; I literally teared up. They were even more beautiful than I had imagined.” The profusion of blooms extended into the wedding party wardrobe: several bridesmaids had botanical patterns in their dresses, the bride’s earrings featured dogwood flowers, and a Monique Lhuillier printed floral gown was one of the four she selected for the day. “That dress was a dream come true,” she adds. 
 
After a day in which love blossomed everywhere, the couple spent their honeymoon in Italy. “Every night felt like our very first date,” she says.
