Lowndes Grove Plantation

When Charleston native Jennifer and Scott, of Cincinnati, Ohio, met through mutual friends, the two became fast friends. That platonic friendship turned to courtship six year later when Scott “finally mustered up the courage to ask me out,” laughs Jennifer. Luckily he did, because the Charlotte duo soon realized they made a perfect pair—so much so that 10 months later Scott dropped to bended knee and proposed.

For their wedding, Jennifer and Scott set their sights on the bride’s hometown, and chose Lowndes Grove Plantation as their picturesque venue. From there they teamed with the ladies at YOJ Events to plan a romantic wedding filled to the brim with personal details.

On the Big Day, the pair tied the knot of the front lawn of the historic plantation using the Southern manse as a backdrop, a setting that photographer Leigh Webber says is one of the venue’s most beautiful (and we couldn’t agree more). Afterward, guests moved down to the riverfront to enjoy drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and a magnificent sunset before heading into the tent for dinner. Silver and white striped linens covered the round dinner tables flanked by Chiavari chairs and accented with mercury glass compotes full of purple blooms. After a delicious surf ’n’ turf dinner, Jennifer and Scott’s families and friends raised their glasses to toasts before continuing the celebration on the dance floor. When it came time for the couple to make their grand exit, guests were handed rose petals wrapped in paper printed with the lyrics to the newlyweds’ first dance.
