Lowcountry Icons | Cotton bolls, burlap, and a palette of soft neutrals meet for a stunning Big Day rife with his-and-her accents

Brandy Klein & Jeff Romanek
September 14, 2013
Dataw Island Club

When it came to a wedding day aesthetic, Brandy Klein and Jeff Romanek had one heck of a location to draw upon. Dataw Island, the home of a former cotton plantation, served as Brandy’s playground when she was a child and, later, as a vacation spot for the bride and groom, who met while navigating the Big Apple after college. When it came time for their nuptials, Brandy enlisted Beaufort-based planner Ashley Rhodes to create a day rife with his-and-her Lowcountry accents. “We wanted our wedding to represent Jeff’s and my personalities,” explains Brandy. “I am a little bit classic and polished while he is a little more rugged and burly.” From the khaki, gray, and white color palette to cotton bolls in every flower arrangement, boutonniere, and bouquet, and the towering oak on Dataw Island Club’s waterfront, the September 14, 2013 nuptials were every inch the Southern mix-and-match fête they had hoped for.
