Jill Murphy & Alex Crean
October 4, 2014
Ocean Course at Kiawah Island
“I love mixing prints and colors,” says bride Jill Murphy, “so we created an incredible suite of punchy patterns to weave through the invitations, welcome gifts, printed décor, flowers, and fabrics.” Jill started by sharing a favorite Cy Twombly painting with Marisa Schaaf of Blue Glass Design. Marisa then painted blooming watercolor flowers and patterns in the same palette before using them to craft an extensive paper portfolio. Next, the designer worked with Haley Kelly from A Charleston Bride to pull together a dramatic suite of coordinating fabrics, some of which were hand-painted by Marisa. Says Jill of the sum total on display at her October wedding to Alex Crean on Kiawah? “Couldn’t be happier!”
PUMP UP PATTERNS Try Dresses as Décor: Add pattern to the wedding with attendant apparel. (Amsale, available locally through Bella Bridesmaids) Branch Out: An artist pal (aka “Wonderpuss Octopuss Ink”) painted Jill’s silver Prada heels for her “something blue.” Unleash Flower Power: The floral menu from A Charleston Bride was the starting point for patterns and palettes. Top Things Off: Echo the stationery and signage suite with custom welcome tags.
