Oh What Fun | A Columbia couple's Big Day proves that fabulous florals, glitzy linens, and chicken biscuits make for one sweet celebration

While both were juniors at Clemson University, Tennessee native Kathryn and Russell, of Columbus, Georgia, met during a weekend trip to the mountains with mutual friends. “We met on the dance floor and cut a rug all night!” recounts Kathryn, who six years later said “Yes!” when Russell popped the question on Valentine’s Day 2014.

 

On the Big Day nine months later, the Charleston temperatures dropped and the skies opened for a day of less-than-ideal wedding weather, but the laidback pair were completely, totally, and utterly unphased. After a beautiful ceremony at First (Scots) Presbyterian and a quick walk around the downtown block during a brief respite from the rain, the wedding party headed across the Ashley River to the Country Club of Charleston for a beautiful reception.

 

Between Kathryn’s fabulous taste, her mother’s flower arranging skills (the bridal bouquet was her creation) and her wedding planner-slash-sister’s touch, the glittery affair was absolute perfection. Pink blooms overflowed from golden vessels while tabletops glittered thanks to sequined linens. So much prettiness! And the wedding was truly as fun as it was gorgeous with light-up tambourines, plenty of dancing, and even a late-night snack of chicken biscuits before Kathryn and Russell exited through a sea of sparklers.
