FAIRY TALE: To frame the couple’s big moment, Whitney Randall of Branch Design Studio tucked coral amaryllis blooms into opaque milk glass jars and hung them among glass lanterns in the live oak above the altar.

SISTER, SISTER: The best woman, Brian’s sister Jeannine, donned a gunmetal-hued beaded 1920s style gown by Alice + Olivia, while the maid of honor, Lindsay’s sister Kathleen, wore a shimmering Basix Black Label frock.

BREATH OF FRESH AIR: For a garden-style bouquet, Whitney gathered astilbe, craspedia, dusty miller, ranunculus, succulents, green viburnum, blush coral charm, and yellow tree peonies together.

PAPER BOY: Brian, an art director at a marketing company, took the lead on everything from save-the-dates to escort cards, favors, and thank-you notes. For her part, Lindsay tracked down scores of vintage stamps from NewEgg.com.

HERE COMES THE SUN: The two swapped “I dos” at a farm table bathed in sunlight overlooking the Ashley River.

FAMILY AFFAIR: Brian enlisted his nephew and niece—six-year-old Liam and three-year-old Chloe—to kick off the ceremonial festivities.

FASHION FORWARD: Lindsay sparkled in a pale pink beaded Monique Lhuillier gown (available in Charleston through Maddison Row), while Brian opted for a slim-fitting Paul Smith Mainline suit in navy blue, brightened with a Billy Ball boutonniere.

GARDEN PARTY: Magnolia and olive branches, craspedia, and ranunculus were woven into the chandeliers to transform the dining hall space into an enchanted garden. Later that night, Lindsay says she and Brian “felt like we were having an intimate meal with 120 of our loved ones.”

BALANCING ACT: To offset the day’s many vibrant blooms, Whitney Randall of Branch Design Studio stocked centerpiece planters with muted green and mauve succulents.

ALL THE TRIMMINGS: Katie Poole of Tusk Events helped the couple handpick antique furnishings from Ooh! Events, like this trolley table. “The décor felt easy, eclectic, and personal to Lindsay and Brian,” says Katie. “Their event was a true labor of love.”

I GOT YOU, BABE: Quirky colors, playful décor, and the couple’s own sense of fun brought out the whimsical side of Magnolia Gardens.

RIDDLE ME THIS: Maid of honor Kathleen wrote the clues for a Lindsay-and-Brian-themed crossword puzzle for guests to play during the reception.

SWEET THING: Lauren Mitterer of WildFlour Pastry whipped up a vegan chocolate cake with coconut icing for the couple. “It was gobbled up!” says Lindsay.

CAB FARE: New Yorkers through and through, Brian and Lindsay enlisted a yellow taxi to whisk them away. Katie made it their own with funky floral decals and a pennant banner. After their wedding weekend, the newlyweds embarked on a honeymoon in Nicaragua.

Magnolia Plantation and Gardens

Forget dinner and a movie: to celebrate three months of courtship, Brooklyn, New York, natives Lindsay Buehler and Brian Tyson splurged on a trip to India to see a pair of her friends wed, which pretty much sealed their own romantic deal. “After Brian waswilling to get up at 5 a.m. and follow me through the dark streets of Mysore for a yoga class, we both knew it was love,” says Lindsay.

One proposal later, they started dreaming up their own wedding in the Lowcountry, which, after 20 years of Buehler family vacations to Kiawah Island, felt like a second home to the bride-to-be. And so the wedding planning from afar began, not with a palette or theme, but with the wedding party’s togs—a pale pink bridal gown, navy suit for the groom, and metallic silver frocks for the maid of honor and best (wo)man.

“We decided to incorporate bright colors with flowers, printed materials, and table settings,” Lindsay explains. They opted for a suite of coral-hued paper goods and then mixed in teal votives along with blooms in peach, magenta, and gold, plus vintage patterned china and rentals all seamlessly melded together by Katie Poole of Tusk Events. The pieces added up to one seriously polished look that gave Magnolia Plantation’s naturally earthy aesthetic an urbane edge.

When the wedding weekend arrived, the duo shirked a rehearsal dinner in favor of a welcome bash for guests hailing from Chicago, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. Saturday brought a romantic ceremony written by Lindsay, officiated by a family friend, and enlivened with Beatles’ tunes strummed on a guitar. “In the end,” says Lindsay, “everything was a reflection of our personal tastes and of our love for each other.”
