Polka Dotted Party | Kristin McCall & Russell Smith, October 11, 2008, Second Presbyterian Church & The Historic Rice Mill

Childhood sweethearts Kristin and Russell started dating as 15-year-olds, so they had plenty of time to dream up their wedding, which followed eight years later. Although Kristin’s first color picks were coral and sea foam, her day-to-day wardrobe of fuchsia, black, and white prompted Sarah Bradley of SOCIAL Event Design & Planning to suggest that palette instead. With Kristin on board, Sarah infused those hues into the Big Day and introduced French damask to the reception’s pillows (hand-sewn by a friend) and cake as a nod to Kristin’s choice travel spot. While the ceremony at Second Presbyterian Church was a subdued event, Sarah totally transformed the Historic Rice Mill with bold hues. “The pops of colors and patterns made it personal,” says Kristin.
