Posh Details, Please | Peaches, pretty signage, and fresh, spring touches fill this Charleston wedding at Lowndes Grove Plantation
Alessandra Soo & Adam Rogoff
October 1, 2016 / Lowndes Grove Plantation

In 2007, Adam spotted Alessandra at an Emory University frat party and asked her to be his partner for beer pong. Eight years later, on their Birthright trip to Israel, he dropped to one knee in front of the Western Wall and asked her to be his partner for life. “To be completely honest, we both forgot a lot of what I said,” Adam laughs, “but I know I asked her to marry me!” Alessandra’s “Yes” gave way to a peach-themed wedding, an ode to their early years in Atlanta. Think fresh peaches as escort cards, on tables, and in bowls, and peach hues in the florals, invitations, linens, and everywhere else you can imagine. Throw in a fried sweets station stocked with Oreos and rangoons, plus a chuppah that was later repurposed for hanging outdoor swings, and the result was, according to Alessandra, “fresh, fun, and reflective of our unique characters.”

TAKEAWAYS
• Leverage your connections. Ashley Wenz of Boutique Planning tracked down peaches out of season thanks to her restaurateur hubby, who reached out to one of his food reps.
• Dress up passed trays and food baskets (and introduce out-of-towners to local fare) with labels.
• For a waterfront reception, hang lanterns near the shore to encourage guests to explore even after the sun sets.
• Aim for middle ground with brass elements (like these candlesticks and lanterns) that elevate your décor so it’s neither overly rustic or as showy as gold or silver.
