Pretty Petals | Engaging Events gives us a glimpse of spring with a host of sweet bouquets

Engaging Events (EE) has been creating stunning weddings in the Lowcountry for more than eight years. Cindy Zingerella, owner and lead consultant of the boutique event firm, teams with assistant Jessi Martin and a small army to provide their signature high-end looks delivered with personal service. But none of EE’s soirées or weddings would be complete without their long-time floral designer Judy Johnston. We tapped into Judy’s 20-some years of expertise when it came to putting together the current issue of Charleston Weddings magazine and our fashion shoot bride/model needed a handful of bouquets.

We were a bit of a difficult client, actually, since we came to Judy in the winter asking for spring-like looks (the spring magazine is photographed in December). That oddball request is not too far a cry from the bride who has a wedding in one season and is bent on a reception filled with flowers that bloom during another season altogether. Disconnects like those bring about a few problems—the biggest of which is money. Judy says though it’s possible get flowers out of season, they are more expensive, and availability isn’t guaranteed.

But she says flowers should for-sure be a considered a priority. “Flowers definitely pull a wedding together, period,” Judy says. “They blend the décor with the dresses, linens, and ambience. It’s like holding hands.”

For details on what Judy created (pictured above), read on.
