NATALIE KNOX & HAMPTON ROSENZWEIG

Natalie Knox and Hampton Rosenzweig’s meeting must’ve been kismet. Friends had wanted to set them up but no one wanted it to feel forced. When they finally met “in the wild” in spring 2019 during a night out with friends in their hometown of Charleston, they truly hit it off. And little more than a year later, Hampton popped the question during a tropical vacation in Mexico.

Natalie is the director of weddings and events at Boone Hall Plantation and has
planned hundreds of weddings during her nine years in the industry. So while the venue
was a no-brainer, when it came to her own wedding, “I found it really challenging to narrow
my vision,” she says. She called on Athens, Georgia-based Tailor & Table (who she’d
worked for previously) to help her create her dream wedding, which she envisioned as
slightly edgy but still classic, a European country vibe. Hundreds of hydrangeas, quicksand
roses, and mauvey-pink hues struck just the right tone. And a blend of table seating,
signature martinis—the couple’s drink of choice—meaningful song selections, and dancers
with disco-ball heads all played up the fun, nontraditional party scene that created an
unforgettable experience for all.

Top Tips

Buck tradition. “One of my favorite parts of the day was that Hampton and I had breakfast together the morning of our wedding,” says Natalie, eschewing the custom of the bride and groom waiting until the ceremony to see the other.
Make it personal. For the postage stamps for their invites, Natalie used stamps from both their home states, as well as rose stamps, since their last name, Rosenzweig, means “rose branch.”
Hire great vendors. “There will always be some hiccups,” says Natalie, “but when you have a solid squad, the hiccups will hardly phase you, because you trust that they are going to take care of business and have your best interest in mind.”
