Storybook Romance | Following an oh-so sweet courtship, this Brooklyn pair heads south to wed along the banks of the Ashley River

LaToya Ingram & Robert Jordan

Magnolia Plantation & Gardens

Brooklyn, New York, native LaToya knew she was in for something special when on her first date with Queens native Robert: he too ordered from the gluten-free menu just so she could pick off his plate. A year and four months later, Robert gifted LaToya a photo book filled with images taken throughout their courtship, with its last page reading, “Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?”

After the romantic proposal (Latoya says she sobbed and laughed the whole way through), the two began planning the wedding of their dreams, which led them to Charleston. Months later, on a cool October morning, Latoya and Robert each said “I do”’ during a waterside ceremony on the banks of the Ashley River at Magnolia Plantation & Gardens surrounded by their dearest family and friends. Once inside the venue’s carriage house, the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed a brunch-like spread of Southern favorites like shrimp and grits, omelets, and chicken and waffles. Other noteworthy details? The stunning draping, lounges, and floral goodness that the ladies of Breeze and Branch Design Studio dressed the reception with. Absolutely stunning!
