“We’d spray paint and glitter everything gold if we could,” laughs Francesca DiSalvo-Follmer of Pure Luxe Bride, “so Megan was a dream bride for us to work with.” Known for designing glamorous fêtes like this one for Megan Drake and Keith Goforth at The William Aiken House last October, PLB’s signature look always involves golden details. But given the color is Megan’s absolute favorite hue, it went from side note to headliner on her Big Day. “Gold,” says Francesca, “is almost always used as an accent, but you shouldn’t be afraid of using it (or other metallics) as a main color any time of the year.” Take a peek at how things came together for the pair, who met here in Charleston and now reside in Harlingen, Texas.

MASTER THE MIDAS TOUCH

Strike a Balance
The opulent William Aiken House is loaded with glamorous details like gilded mirrors and frames and heavy, embroidered draperies. For a palette that worked both inside (where the dinner and ceremony were held) and in the after-party tent, gold was paired with black, white, and green accents.

Add Feminine Touches
Soften the look of a metallic fondant cake with a floral topper, like Sablée’s sugar-paste creation.

Keep Fun in the Program
Offset black-tie formality with playful verbiage and design on your program.

Commit to Glitz
Megan’s rose bouquet was sprayed gold, and her bridesmaids carried a mix of white and gold-painted blooms. Other florals scored a golden touch, too, like Kevin’s boutonniere and flower arrangements peppered with gilded leafy sprigs.

Eat Like Royalty
Golden silverware shimmered against tables covered in black linens.

Reuse Reception Décor
The bride shopped HomeGoods for pillows to dress the lounge and kept them afterward to dress their newlywed nest.
