PLAIN PRETTY: The stunning setting suited pared-back decorations, like these simple hanging lanterns.
MELLOW YELLOW: Michael and his groomsmen wore argyle socks in the day’s palette of lemon yellow and gray.
CRAFTY: Shannon, her mom, and sister adhered ceremony programs to patterned card stock.
FINISHING TOUCH: The men sported boutonnieres of palmetto roses from Tiger Lily Weddings.
HAPPY FEET: “Converse has been a staple in my wardrobe from a very young age,” says Shannon of her custom kicks. “I wasn’t afraid I was going to trip down our grass aisle!”
GOOD TIMES: “Your guests will remember the smiles and tender moments between a newlywed couple before they remember the expensive details,” says Shannon of being a DIY bride.
COUPLED UP: Shannon sourced distressed frames for months to display her and Michael’s engagement photos on the reception’s cocktail tables in a personal—and cost-effective—way. “The best part about doing a DIY wedding,” says Shannon, “is that we could incorporate all the decorations into our first home.”
TUNED IN: Shannon and Michael made CDs of their favorite love songs for their guests’ rides home. For the covers, Shannon used a pack of mixed craft paper from Michaels in bright, summery colors and floral patterns.
LOVE BIRDS: Cupcake DownSouth made red velvet treats, which Shannon decorated with felt birds and a custom-made banner by Etsy vendor Petite25.
FUN & GAMES: Michael, his parents, and his grandfather made cornhole boards, which Shannon painted in the day’s color palette. The embroidered beanbags were ordered from Custom Corn Toss.
A FAMILY AFFAIR: The couple displayed their parents’ and grandparents’ wedding photos on two rustic window frames on the favor table. Alongside their CD favors were gift bags with doggie treats to honor their pup, Maddie, who had to miss the festivities.
