Alexis Simmons & Marcus Backman

August 25, 2019

Alexis, a WCSC-TV Live 5 News anchor and reporter, and Marcus, a business manager at Meeting Street Schools, were high school sweethearts who had their first date at Andolini’s Pizza. After graduating, the couple were in a long distance relationship through college and the beginning of their careers in Charleston and Columbia, respectively. One day, Marcus took Alexis to a picnic on Folly Beach overlooking Morris Island and gave her photo albums; as she looked through them, he dropped to one knee. They held their wedding and reception at Merchants Hall on Market Street.
