At a friend’s birthday party, Drew (a sales representative) sought advice from Annie (a physical therapist) about his “injured” shoulder. A few days later he followed up with a call that led to two years of dating. After Drew proposed, the Charlotte, North Carolina, residents booked a wedding at The Gadsden House on East Bay Street. (Annie did her clinical rotation at the Medical University of South Carolina here, thus the appeal of Charleston.) Their wedding boasted all the usual traditions, including one not-so-usual one. The bride’s dad is one of seven sons, and at every family reception, one of their crew hoists the bride onto his shoulders and runs around the dance floor. Even though Annie knew the prank was coming, she says it still came as a shock … and made for a priceless video.
