While waiting in line at a Chicago Starbucks, Duncan, who noticed real estate papers in Hilary’s hand, pretended to be interested in selling some of his family’s property to get her number. Five years later at a horse race in Hilary’s native Kentucky, Duncan got down on one knee and proposed to her. The two wed on the Ocean Terrace at Seabrook Island Club and now happily reside in Mount Pleasant.
