When Michael and Ian evacuated to Asheville, North Carolina, for Hurricane Matthew in 2016, it gave Ian the perfect opportunity to propose to Michael at the Biltmore House. The pair had met on the front row of a Texas music festival five years earlier and later moved to Charleston. For the wedding at The Governor Thomas Bennett House, Michael and Ian, who wore velvet green jackets, requested their guests wear elegant white attire to honor the women in their lives. After dancing the night away, the couple stayed at Hotel Bennett and later plan to honeymoon in Greece.
