As students at Charleston Southern University, Jacob and Shayla met a few times before falling for each other. After a chance encounter in 2018, the two became inseparable, sharing trips to Disney and countless dinner dates. During a visit to New York for Valentine’s day, Jacob popped the question while on a private tour of the Statue of Liberty. Following a wedding ceremony on the veranda at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens, the couple, who now live in North Charleston, led guests to the back lawn for festivities that included a cigar bar, light-up cowboy hats, and Southern staples such as chicken and waffles.
