The pair instantly bonded over a love of the outdoors, traveling to Spain and Australia during their first year of dating. John popped the question in August 2019 during a sunset walk with their dogs at Folly Beach County Park. After COVID canceled their original plans to elope in Italy, the couple opted for a private ceremony in Hampton Park. Afterward, Amy and John shared cake and champagne at Carmella’s, spending the night at Planter’s Inn before flying to Costa Rica the next morning for their honeymoon.
