Kathryn Dittloff and William Schmieding

Avid surfers Kate and Will had seen each other on the water, but didn’t officially meet until Kate asked Will via Instagram if he wanted to have a beer at Chico Feo on Folly. After two years filled with trips to Florida, Mexico, and Nicaragua, Will got down on one knee and proposed during a walk along Folly Beach. They had originally planned to tie the knot at Charleston Yacht Club, but due to the pandemic, they instead held a wedding on a private James Island dock with only their parents and Katie’s cousin (as officiant) and her husband (as videographer) in attendance. After the ceremony, they celebrated with family and friends via Zoom.
