MUSC nursing student Mary met Eli through mutual friends playing pickup soccer. The two went surfing for their first outing and made it a regular occurrence during lockdown. While on a trip to Anchorage, Alaska, to visit his family, Eli proposed on the highest point of the slopes at Alyeska Ski Resort. Eli and Mary were married at the Lake House at Bulow in a ceremony officiated by the friend who initiated their meet-cute soccer story, followed by a reception with a performance by local folk duo The Letter Show.
