Mount Pleasant native Sterling met West Ashley resident Matthew at School of the Arts in 2015. After graduating and moving to Columbia to attend the University of South Carolina, Matthew would drive back to Charleston to visit Sterling every other weekend. On Easter Sunday 2022, Matthew got down on one knee at Hampton Park, where they’d taken prom pictures eight years before. Following a weekend of celebrating with a sunrise dip in the ocean and a “Lowcountry Boyle,” the couple were married at the Seabrook Island Clubhouse, where a reception followed.
