When the pandemic forced the pair to cancel plans to vacation in Aruba for their one-year anniversary, they opted for a romantic dinner downtown and a stroll along the Battery. As the two approached the gazebo in White Point Garden, James asked Tami to marry him. The couple held a small ceremony on the terrace at Emeline hotel, followed by a reception in the greenhouse.
