A pharmacy student at the Medical University of South Carolina, Kathryn met Thomas while he was a cadet at The Citadel in the summer of 2018. The couple bonded over karaoke, kickball, and being outdoors, which inspired Thomas to pop the question while he and Kathryn were fishing on a lake in Bluffton. The couple were married by a mutual friend from their kickball team during a black-tie ceremony at Summerall Chapel. Afterward, a reception was held at the William Aiken House, including a cocktail hour, dinner, and shag dancing to tunes from the Root Doctors.
