Dockside & Darling | Caroline Bagnall & Tyler Holtgreven; October 3, 2009, French Huguenot Church, Boone Hall Plantation
Caroline Bagnall & Tyler Holtgreven; October 3, 2009, French Huguenot Church, Boone Hall Plantation

Ohio University college sweethearts Caroline Bagnall and Tyler Holtgreven don’t disagree on many things, but they just can’t seem to reconcile when they first met.“Tyler says he remembers quite clearly meeting in the fall of 2002. I don’t recall meeting until spring of 2003,” Caroline laughs. “But quite frankly I think his version is adorable, and love that we ‘met twice!’” she says.  Regardless of when they first laid eyes on one another, the couple enjoyed a four-year courtship before Tyler proposed. After she said “Yes,” the pair knew exactly where they wanted to wed. After a spring break visit to friends at Francis Marion University, “We were instantly in love with everything about the Charleston and the Lowcountry,” says Caroline. “Every block seemed to exude Southern charm and character.”

So they hired Luke Wilson Special Events to fashion a dream wedding. With Boone Hall Plantation’s Cotton Dock as the reception venue, Luke crafted the laid-back, vintage romance vibe Caroline and Tyler wanted the event to have. Other details like the welcome bags—filled with chocolate-and-peanut-butter candies made by the groom’s mother—and the menu—good ol’ Southern fare like fried chicken, shrimp and grits, and crab cakes—were similarly on the mark. “It all fell into place and it was perfect,” Caroline says.
