Kelly & Elias | Runnymede Plantation



Anyone else out there a superfan of the movie, My Big Fat Greek Wedding? Such a cute rom-com, right? Well, Kelly & Elias’ wedding at Runnymede Plantation was kinda, sorta the same (groom Elias is greek) but done so in a very sophisticated, Charleston way—and without the meddlesome families. The Floridians met back in 2010 after mutual friends set them up and after five years of dating which included buying a house together and becoming kitty parents to Roger, Elias dropped to one knee while on a trip to the Lincoln Park Zoo during their Christmas light event. “I have a deep love for all things Christmas-y,” says Kelly, “so he knew it would be the perfect setting for the proposal.” And so it was! What we would have given to be a shiny light on the wall during that epic holiday proposal. After that, their destination wedding planning in the Holy City took off and the couple invited guests to partake in a ceremony which included the greek Stefani wedding crown ritual (see the pics, it is really neat!), a cocktail hour overlooking the river, and a romantic tented reception complete with moody black tapered candles in over 120 brass candlesticks that Kelly and co. had accumulated over the years. Gosh, how we love a personal touch. And to top off an already incredible night, the newlyweds made their departure after surprising partygoers with a dazzling fireworks display. And to that we say, “Opa!”
