WELL SUITED: Matching the floral color palette, the ring bearer sported a fuchsia bowtie and cheery smile.

STYLE ME VINTAGE: Escorted down the aisle by her father, the bride wore a 1940s-inspired birdcage veil.

HAND-IN-HAND: Natural finished wooden chairs and bright green grass set a refreshing backdrop for bold flora and fabrics.

PRETTY PRESENTATION: WildFlour Pastry provided cupcakes both big and small. Accent flowers added color to the vanilla and chocolate sweets.

DRAMATIC DETAIL: Bright purple ribbon used to tie off a simple stack of napkins provided another burst of color that reinforced the wedding’s palette.

CONTROLLED CHAOS: Wild arrangements in bold colors added an “enchanted forest” feel to the vintage-glam reception.

FIERY FLORA: Fuchsia peonies, pink roses, orchids, and green grasses framed neutral-colored candles to create vibrant centerpieces.

HANGING AROUND: After the sun had set, lanterns—tied with signature purple ribbon—helped light the backyard of the William Aiken House.

MONOGRAMMED MOMENT: Jennifer says that lighting details, like having her and Mike’s initials spotlighted onto the dance floor, added to the romantic atmosphere of the night.

Virginia natives Jennifer Grillo and Michael Crisci knew they wanted to wed in the Holy City—she’d gone to school here and both had attended many a wedding in these parts. With a rustic meets glam theme in mind, the couple enlisted Southern Protocol’s Lizz Akerman and stems’ Anne Bowen to plan their May 29, 2011 nuptials. With the William Aiken House’s yellow hue and its natural greenery as their backdrop, the team put on a drama of color and form.
